Creamy Tomato Curry

Creamy Tomato Curry

This is the simplest of simple curries!! Addition of milk in the curry makes it so creamy and delicious. I make this often as it is liked by the entire family.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 small Onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • ½ tsp red Chili Powder
  • A pinch of Turmeric
  • Salt

For Seasoning/Tempering:

  • ½ tsp Mustard Seeds
  • ¼ tsp Cumin Seeds
  • ½ tsp Bengal Gram (Pachi Senagapappu, Chana Dal)
  • ½ tsp Black Gram (Minappappu, Urad Dal)
  • 1 dry red Chili
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • 2 tsp Oil

Creamy Tomato Curry

Preparation:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
  2. When they splutter, add cumin seeds + Bengal gram + black gram and fry till the daals turn golden brown in color.
  3. Then add red chili + curry leaves and fry well.
  4. Later add onions + tomatoes and sauté well.
  5. Sprinkle turmeric on top and mix well.
  6. Cover and leave the curry on medium flame for some time until the veggies become soft and cooked.
  7. Add salt also and mix well.  Leave it for some time until all water from tomatoes is absorbed.
  8. Just before turning off the flame, add milk to the curry and mix well.
  9. When the milk gets blended well with the curry, turn off the flame.
  10. Then transfer the curry to a serving bowl and enjoy with rice or chapathis.
