Moong Dal Vadas made with Idlis

Moong Dal Vadas made with Idlis

I have a big hand when it comes to cooking. So I always store leftovers! Sometimes I just reheat those and eat and sometimes when I am bored of eating those again either throw away (I know waste of food!) or just think of some crazy creations with those leftovers. But trust me, my family always show thumbs up for these yummy creations.

Maggi Pakodas

Maggi Pakodas

My little one is a picky eater and never finishes her food. So I always have leftovers. She likes Maggi noodles so much, but never finishes that either. I usually throw away the leftover noodles, but one day thought of making pakodas with them. And ta-da! Trust me, they tasted delicious.

Upma Dosa

Upma Dosa

When I have leftover upma, I don’t like to eat it by reheating. I just turn it into different forms like bondas just like I made Vermicelli Bonda and sometimes pakodas and sometimes dosas like these. I guarantee the taste. This involves easiest preparation with limited number of ingredients.

Upma Dosa

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Leftover Upma
  • 1 cup Rice Flour (బియ్యపు పిండి)
  • ½ cup Chickpea Flour (శనగపిండి)
  • Salt
  • Oil
Method:
  1. Add all the ingredients except oil in a wide bowl and mix well by adding water to make batter.
  2. The batter shouldn’t be too thick or too thin, but just right enough to drop and spread with a ladle.
  3. To make sure there are no lumps in the batter, use hand to mix the ingredients.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan and pour a ladleful of batter on it and spread out quickly into a round shape.
  5. But don’t spread the batter into a very thin layer. It should be little thin like we do for utappams.
  6. Pour a little oil around the dosa. Leave it for a while to cook and flip it over to cook on the other side. Pour a little oil again around the dosa.
  7. When the dosa is done, take it away from the pan and transfer to a serving plate.
  8. Repeat the same process with remaining batter.
  9. Enjoy these yummy dosas with your favorite chutney.
  10. We ate our dosas with cilantro pickle and some curry powder.

Pasta Roti

Pasta Roti

Do you remember my Tomato Pasta that I posted previously? I made these rotis using the leftover tomato pasta. Yes and the rotis tasted so delicious, soft and fluffy. The veggies I have added in the pasta made these rotis healthy too. Try this recipe and you won’t regret it! Here is how I made them:

Ingredients:
I didn’t follow any exact measurements. I just used up all the leftover pasta I had. Anyhow, I will give the ingredients I used.
  • Leftover Pasta
  • Some Wheat Flour
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Preparation:
  1. Grind all the leftover pasta into a smooth paste by adding a small amount of water if needed.
  2. Transfer into a mixing bowl and add some wheat flour + salt + some oil (optional) to the pasta paste and mix well.
  3. Add more wheat flour if needed to make the dough just like chapathi dough. Adjust salt.
  4. Knead the dough well and divide into small round balls. Roll each ball into a roti/chapathi.
  5. Heat a non-stick pan and place a roti, pour little oil around it and leave it until bubbles show up on top.
  6. Flip it over and let the other side cook. Transfer the cooked roti to a plate.
  7. Repeat the same process with remaining rotis.
  8. Enjoy these fluffy rotis either hot or cold with your favorite curry or pickle.
  9. We ate them with Chhole.

Pasta Roti

These delicious rotis are my first entry to Srivalli’s Roti Mela.

Thank you so much Sowmya, for passing me “You Make My Day” award. You make my day too with your sweet comments regularly.

Vermicelli Bonda | Semiya Bonda

Vermicelli Bonda | Semiya Bonda
Mouth-watering bondas with Vermicelli/Semiya

These yummy appetizers are made from the leftover vermicelli bath that I have posted previously for WBB – Microwave Foods event. As I don’t want to waste the leftover food, I usually give a new twist to it and make different recipes out of it. To my luck, they all turn out good, he he!

Idli Fritters

Idli Fritters

I had some leftover idlis, which I wanted to use differently. Usually I make upma out of it, but got bored of it. So I tried this variation. I made idli fritters for the evening snack and they were a hit at our home.
