Papaya – Berry Shake

Papaya – Berry Shake

Papaya is considered to be the fruit of the angels for its soft, butter-like texture and sweetness. Papayas are so rich in antioxidant nutrients like carotenes, Vitamin C and Flavonoids. They are fiber rich fruits. These nutrients said to help in protection against colon cancer and for a healthy cardiovascular system.

Even though I know a lot of these health facts about Papaya, I never tried this wonderful fruit before. Somehow, I neglected it. But now I determined that I should eat papaya often for the all the nutrients it possesses.

Soy Milkshake and Pops

I never used soy milk in my cooking or tasted it before. I used it for the first time to make milkshake and ice pops and everyone in my family liked the taste. A perfect treat for this hot summer!!

Ingredients: (Perfect for 4 cups milkshake and 4 Ice Pops)

  • 4 cups Soy Milk
  • 6 Strawberries, stems removed
  • 2 ripe Bananas, skin peeled off
  • ½ cup Sugar (I used Brown Sugar but regular sugar is fine)

Preparation:

Milkshake:

Just add all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into individual glasses, garnish with slivered almonds (optional) and enjoy.

Ice Pops:

Pour the remaining milkshake into four ice pop molds and freeze until set (approx. 4 to 6 hours).

Soy Milkshake and Pops

To unmold these pops, just place the mold in warm water for 2 seconds or place under running water from the tap. They come out easily after 2 seconds.

Healthy Celery Drink

Healthy Celery Drink

Last Saturday I prepared this feel good drink but was little skeptical about the taste. I served this to the kids with fingers crossed. I felt so happy when they said it was yummy! It tasted really good. Though we had a little celery aftertaste (acc. to my daughter), it didn’t dominate the overall taste. If your kids don’t like celery, try this drink and I am sure they would love it.

Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry Lemonade

This is a healthy and nutritious drink during pregnancy. It has all the goodness of strawberries and lemon. It is even good for nausea found in the early stages of pregnancy. A healthy diet is very important during pregnancy for the well being of both mom and child. So a variety of nutrients should be included in the meals for a balanced diet.
Strawberries are good source of iron which is needed for pregnant women. Iron deficiency can cause anemia (a condition in which the blood is deficient in red blood cells, in hemoglobin or in total volume). A pregnant woman needs more vitamins, minerals and nutrients than a regular non-pregnant woman. Fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C help the mom and child to have healthy gums and other tissues. Strawberries are rich in Vitamin C too!
Lemon is also rich in Vitamin C essential to the healthy growth of the baby and also for the mom. Lemon juice diluted with water is very useful for pregnant women. It helps build the bones in the unborn child.

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups Water
  • 2 cups Strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • ½ cup Lemon Juice
  • 2 cups Soda Water (Like Club Soda) (optional)
Preparation:
  1. Place strawberries + water + sugar in a blender, cover and blend until smooth.
  2. Stir in lemon juice.
  3. Add soda water if using and mix well.
  4. Pour into individual glasses and serve immediately.
  5. Enjoy the good taste!
