Green Peas Chat
Yummy Low Fat Snack - Green Peas Chat

Peace, peace, peace! OK not really that. Even though we need a lot of Peace at present times, right now I really meant Peas :) Do you use green peas regularly in your cooking? I do, but not in daily recipes. I use them liberally in upmas, rice dishes, and salads and sometimes even in milkshakes (yes). Recently I saw a burfi (sweet dish) recipe on TV using green peas. It looked delicious and interesting and I am looking forward to make it whenever possible.

As we all know green peas are so healthy and contain so many health benefits. They are rich in antioxidants and are good for heart. Green peas help in prevention of stomach cancer and blood sugar.

Coming to the recipe, I usually make chats for evening snacks with tea/coffee as they are guilt-free and healthy too. I used to make a lot of deep-fired stuff before but reduced it a lot. Even though the deep-fried snacks are super delicious to eat, they are also the factors of weight gain and other problems. OK I think I wrote a lot, so let’s go to the recipe now.

Ingredients: (for 2 persons)
  • Fresh green Peas – 2 cups (can be replaced with frozen peas)
  • Finely chopped Onions – ¼ cup
  • Finely chopped Green Chilies – 2
  • Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
  • Finely chopped Tomato – 1
  • Finely chopped Cilantro – 1 tsp
  • Red Chili powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt
Preparation:
  1. If using fresh peas, soak them overnight before making this chat. I used frozen peas for my chat.
  2. Boil peas until cooked. Place these in a bowl and add onions + tomato + green chilies + chili powder + lemon juice and mix well.
  3. Add salt as needed and mix well.
  4. Garnish with some chopped cilantro and serve.
  5. This makes a perfect, guilt-free tea time snack.
  6. Yummy!
