Rasam Powder - Version1

Rasam Powder
Aromatic Rasam Powder

Want to try my version of easy rasam powder? I usually make rasam powder and sambar powder at home. Sometimes when I feel lazy to make these from scratch, I just buy these from store. But home-made powders give utter satisfaction, don’t you agree?

Here is the recipe:

 Ingredients:
  • Coriander Seeds – 1 Cup
  • Black Peppercorns (Whole) – 1 tbsp
  • Dry Red Chilies – 3 or 4 or depending on individual taste
  • Toor Dal (Kandi Pappu, Pigeon Peas) – 2 tsp

Method:

  1. Dry roast all the ingredients and keep aside to cool.
  2. Then grind into a fine powder and store in an airtight container.
  3. Refrigeration not required. Rasam powder can be stored up to 1 or 2 months.
  4. When making rasam, just add a teaspoon of this powder and enjoy the taste as well as the nice aroma it gives to rasam.

You're right, home-made gives a lot of satisfaction - I rarely buy readymade powders and stuff, usually make my own.

Nice template Uma. I usually have quite a few storebought powders on hand but home-made definitely is more flavourful, without doubt.
