Instant Savory

Instant Savory

This is the simple and instant snack made with easily available ingredients. It tastes sooo delicious too!!

Ingredients:
  • 1-cup instant Urad flour (Black gram flour)
  • 3-cups instant Rice flour
  • 1 medium sized Onion
  • 2 tsp Red Chili Powder (or according to individual taste)
  • Sour buttermilk as required (I used store-bought fat free Plain Yogurt which is sour in taste and softened it with water)
  • Oil to deep fry
  • Salt as required
Preparation:
  1. Chop the onion into fine pieces and keep aside.
  2. Mix the two flours along with the chopped onion, red chili powder and salt into a thick batter as you do for pakoda, by adding little sour buttermilk as required.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep skillet and drop the prepared batter carefully into the hot oil with a big spoon.
  4.  Fry till the savories become golden brown and then take them away from the oil.
  5. Repeat the above process with remaining batter.
  6. Transfer the savories to a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  7. Serve hot or cold with ketchup or your favorite dip or chutney.
