Mirapakaaya Bajji (Green Chili Fritters)

Mirapakaaya Bajji (Green Chili Fritters)

The name “mirapakaya bajji” itself is enough to tempt me!! Imagine the taste! On one Sunday my hubby prepared these for the evening snack.

Here is how he made them,

Ingredients:
  • 5 to 6 Long Green Chilies
  • 1 cup Chickpea Flour (Senagapindi, Besan)
  • Salt
  • Oil to deep fry
For Stuffing:(You can use any combo of stuffing given below)
  • Coriander + Cumin Powder
  • Lemon Juice – A little (Optional)
  • Chili Powder (Optional)
  • Salt
Or
  • Carom Seeds Powder (Vaamu, Ajwain)
  • Lemon Juice – A little (Optional)
  • Chili Powder (Optional)
  • Salt
Preparation:
  1. Make slits in the chilies lengthwise and remove the seeds.
  2. Prepare the desired stuffing by mixing all the ingredients under “For Stuffing” into a thick paste. Add very little water if needed.
  3. Stuff the slit peppers with desired filling and keep aside.
  4. Prepare a thick batter by mixing besan + salt + water.
  5. Now, heat the oil in a deep pan. Dip the stuffed green peppers in the batter and carefully drop in the hot oil. Fry till the bajjis turn golden brown in color and remove from the oil.
  6. Transfer the fried bajjis to a plate lined with a paper towel to remove the excess oil. Repeat the same process with remaining peppers.
  7. Enjoy these super hit snacks with a cup of tea or coffee. Yummy!!
