Glossary of Food Items

I always wanted to make a list for the meanings of common food items. Finally I managed to do it. If I miss anything, let me know. I shall add them to the glossary. If any blank spaces are seen, it might be that I couldn’t find the meanings. If anyone knows the particular meaning, please let me know. Don’t hesitate to point out any mistakes or additions.

  16. Hi,

just been thru ur glossary , and found "Dry Mango Powder" didnt hav its telugu version of what itz called.

An "orugu" is a dried up veggie in telugu, so a dried up piece of mango is "maamidikai orugu" , so for "dry mango powder" u can call it "maamidikai orugu podi"

can i know wht r flaxseeds n where can i find dem?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @pavani:

Flax seeds are tiny seeds that are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and antioxidants. These healthy seeds should be included in our regular diet in some form. If interested, you can read more about these seeds at this address:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flax_seeds

These flax seeds are available in any regular grocery store. Hope this helps :)

Gantlu/Sajjalu means Pearl Millet. So obviously, ganti pindi would mean Millet Flour. You can check the above link to know more.
