Cashew Pakoda

Cashew Pakoda

Hi friends, I am back from my long vacation. Hope you all had a great summer. I had a great time with family in India.

After a long gap, today I am posting a simple snack item that requires very little effort and taste so delicious.

Let's go to the recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Cashews, whole or halved
  • 1 cup Chickpea Flour (Senagapindi, Besan)
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • A pinch of Soda
  • Salt
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1 tsp Ghee to roast cashews
Preparation:
  1. Roast cashews in hot ghee until they turn golden brown in color. Keep aside.
  2. Mix besan + chili powder + soda together.
  3. Add fried cashews to the besan mixture and mix well.
  4. Add salt and make a thick batter by adding very little amount of water.
  5. Pour oil in a deep skillet and heat.
  6. Then take small portions of the batter and drop carefully into the hot oil.
  7. Fry until the pakodas become golden brown in color and remove from the oil and spread out on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. Repeat the same process with remaining batter.
  9. Enjoy these yummy and crunchy pakodas with a cup of coffee/tea.
