Broccoli – Capsicum Pappu (Dal)

We love a variety of dal dishes. I think all Andhrites are very fond of dal dishes. Every day we make sure we have any dal item or sambar item to eat with rice.  

As my kids also enjoy the taste of these dal dishes, I add different kinds of vegetables to this to make it healthier. I sometimes sneak in the vegetables like Broccoli and Celery into these dal dishes and the kids don’t even realize it and eat happily.

Peace, peace, peace! OK not really that. Even though we need a lot of Peace at present times, right now I really meant Peas :) Do you use green peas regularly in your cooking? I do, but not in daily recipes. I use them liberally in upmas, rice dishes, and salads and sometimes even in milkshakes (yes). Recently I saw a burfi (sweet dish) recipe on TV using green peas. It looked delicious and interesting and I am looking forward to make it whenever possible.

As we all know green peas are so healthy and contain so many health benefits. They are rich in antioxidants and are good for heart. Green peas help in prevention of stomach cancer and blood sugar.

Papaya is considered to be the fruit of the angels for its soft, butter-like texture and sweetness. Papayas are so rich in antioxidant nutrients like carotenes, Vitamin C and Flavonoids. They are fiber rich fruits. These nutrients said to help in protection against colon cancer and for a healthy cardiovascular system. 

Even though I know a lot of these health facts about Papaya, I never tried this wonderful fruit before. Somehow, I neglected it. But now I determined that I should eat papaya often for the all the nutrients it possesses.

This is a delicious combination of potato and cucumber which is very easy to prepare with less work. For this curry, I used English Cucumbers instead of Lemon Cucumbers. So we can use both types of cucumbers, whichever are available at the time. This goes well with rice as well as chapathis.
