French Vanilla Cookies

French Vanilla Cookies
A simple way to enjoy Vanilla Cookies

Yesterday I felt like baking some cookies for kids. As I wasn’t so confident about my baking skills, I wanted to pick a simple cookie recipe to bake. So I searched for an easy recipe and finally landed on this French Vanilla Cookies recipe. I was attracted towards to this as the ingredients list and the method involved is simple.
Here is the recipe for these yummy and simple Cookies:

Ingredients:
French Vanilla Cookies
  • 1 ½ cups Sugar
  • 1 tsp Soda
  • 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 cups All Purpose Flour (original recipe said only 2 ¼ cups flour, but the cookie dough became too soft and mushy for me so I added ¾ cup flour to it again, so altogether it became 3 cups of flour!)
Preparation:
  1. Add all the above ingredients in a mixing bowl except flour and mix very well by hand or electric mixer.
  2. Finally add the flour and mix well until well blended and the dough becomes soft but not too mushy. We should be able to make balls out of the dough!
  3. Preheat oven at 350 F.
  4. Shape the dough into small balls and flatten by hand or by the back of a glass. Line the cookie tray with parchment paper or just grease it.
  5. Then place the flattened balls well apart as they tend to spread. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes. I baked for 6 minutes and they came out perfect and soft.
  6. Let the cookies cool down completely on cooling racks before eating them. Otherwise, they will break into pieces.
  7. Enjoy these yummy cookies any time. You can decorate these cookies with colored sugar or sprinkles, if desired. I didn’t decorate the cookies though!
